Junior Eurovision: Susan to Represent Germany with ‘Stronger With You’

Earlier in the Junior Eurovision season, it was announced that Germany would be making their debut at this year’s contest. 70 hopefuls were in the running, with that list reduced to just 5 finalists.

The five finalists performed two different songs, Stronger With You and See You Later, both written by Levent Geiger. A professional casting jury decided on the winner, picking the singer and song combination they thought would best represent Germany at Junior Eurovision. The jury consisted of music Producer Martin Haas, Show and vocal coach Michele Huesmann, Max Mutzke, who represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and Levent Geiger. Geiger was last year’s finalist of the songwriter competition Dein Song (ZDF) who composed the German Junior Eurovision song this year.

The participants of the show were:

  • Linnea May (13, from Friedrichsdorf in Hessen)
  • Malaika (14, from Herrsching in Bayern)
  • Davit (12, from Neustadt in Rheinland-Pfalz)
  • Leroy Kay (13, from Neuruppin in Brandenburg)
  • Susan (13, from Berlin)

After the performances, it was announced that Susan would represent Germany with the song Stronger With You. Upon her win, she said, ‘Since I was little, it has always been my dream to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest. It is all the more exciting that I am now allowed to represent Germany at Junior Eurovision. I hope that I can make my country and the people who stand behind me proud.’

The next part of the process will be a 2-part documentary titled Your Song for Warsaw, which is set to showcase the exciting journey of the entry from it’s composition to the casting process and final performance.
